London: Alston Rivers, 1910
8vo, pp. 247. 3 pp. catalogue bound in at rear. Original blue boards, lettered in gilt to front panel and spine. Slightly cocked, blank bookplate and small price stamp to front pastedown. Some wear to spine ends and edges, corners a little bumped. Lacking the dustwrapper.
First UK edition, published six months earlier in the US under the title The Intrusion Of Jimmy.
Famously, Wodehouse dedicated his book The Heart Of A Goof [1926] to his beloved stepdaughter Leonora with the words: 'To my daughter Leonora without whose never-failing sympathy and encouragement this book would have been finished in half the time.' Less famously, Wodehouse had dedicated this book to his friend Herbert Westbrook sixteen years previously, using exactly the same joke.
An unusually nice copy, the gilt on the spine still bright.
