ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY FOR THE WRONG ARM OF THE LAW (1963).
Directed by Cliff Owen and starring Peter Sellers as Pearly Gates, The Wrong Arm of the Law was written by Galton and Simpson with John Antrobus, from a screenplay by John Warren and Len Heath. An extensive script polish rather than an original screenplay, then, but the film is shot through with the mordant wit of its polishers, and Sellers, Lionel Jeffries and Bernard Cribbins are all on top form in this classic British comedy.
Shooting scripts for this film in the Galton and Simpson archive are dated 26 June 1962, and are bound in brown wrappers. This script is presumed to be the penultimate draft, from which the shooting script emerged.
