[ed. BROTCHIE, Alastair and IRVIN, Magnus] [HANCOCK, Tony]

Encomia for Anthony Hancock

London: London Institute of Pataphysics, 2002

8vo, pp. 48. Original illustrated stiff paper wrappers. A little light spotting to front panel, ink smudge (possibly intentional) beneath inscription to rear inside cover, but a near fine copy.

First edition. No. 232 of 666 copies, INSCRIBED BY MAGNUS IRVIN TO TESSA LE BARS: 'To Tessa, many many thanks, love Magnus'. Tessa Le Bars was the agent of Ray Galton and Alan Simpson, and continues to act for them on behalf of the estate.

A reconstruction and 'appreciation' of the paintings made by Hancock's character in The Rebel (1961), in a collection of straight-faced critical essays taking Hancock's character at his own estimation.

A nice association copy of an agreeably bonkers project.
