Tall 8vo, pp. 113, 1p. advertisements bound in at rear. Original red decorative cloth, lettered in black to front board, design in black and gilt. Offsetting to front endpapers and pp. 62-3 from papers laid in (and no longer present), small ownership stamp and label remnant to front free endpaper. A very good copy with just a little light wear to baords.

Born in Alsace, Louis Muckensturm [1877-1918] emigrated to the US as a young man, and by 1897 was working at the Hotel Marliave in Boston. This book, published under a Boston imprint, includes on p. 45 the first recipe for a dry martini to appear in any American recipe book.
