N.p. [New York] N.p. [Napier Company], N.d. [?1932]
8pp. in stapled stiff paper wrappers, the whole in the shape of a cocktail shaker. Unobtrusive tape scar to front panel (probably from the original packaging). A very well preserved example.
Elegant, shaker-shaped cocktail recipe book, issued to accompany the purchase of the Tells-U-How drink mixer which went on sale at Sak's Fifth Avenue, New York, in time for the 1932 holiday season. The shaker (not included here) went on sale for $7.50, and had a rotating outer sleeve revealing a variety of cocktail recipes. Prohibition was still in place in 1932, but Franklin D. Roosevelt was expected to win the November presidential election that year and legalise alcohol sales. He did, and he did, and stores were keen to ensure their customers were fully equipped ahead of the great day.
An extremely scarce piece of cocktail ephemera. We can find no copy held in any institution worldwide.
