London: Faber, 1959
Small 8vo, pp. 94. Original printed stiff paper wrappers. Spine sunned and with a small scuff to foot. A very good copy.
Faber reprint, first published by them in 1956. EDWARD BOND'S COPY, WITH HIS OWNERSHIP SIGNATURE TO VERSO OF HALF-TITLE: 'Edward Bond, Chelsea, June 1959'. First published as En Attendant Godot by Les Editions de Minuit in 1952.
This copy of Waiting for Godot was purchased by Bond when he was twenty-five years old -- three years before his debut as a playwright with The Pope's Wedding at the Royal Court Theatre, London, in 1962. Given Bond's subsequent lifelong antagonism towards the Theatre of the Absurd, this is a piquant association copy.
