4to, pp. 156. Polished calf binding, unsigned but in the style of Douglas Cockerell, lettered in gilt to front panel, spine and turn-ins, raised bands. Brown endpapers. Tissue guard to frontispiece. Top edge gilt, uncut. Woodcut frontispiece of the author and title page by Gwen Raverat. Some light foxing to preliminaries, but a very well preserved copy in a fine binding.
Limited edition, no. 85 of 1000 copies, printed on handmade Riccardi paper, very finely bound, and illustrated with the woodcuts of Gwen Raverat, a close friend of Rupert Brooke’s in the pre-war Cambridge days. (She was also Charles Darwin’s granddaughter).
