Royal Court Theatre: Graham Crowden's Working Copy
[trans. WRIGHT, Barbara] ARRABAL, Fernando

Two Plays

London: Royal Court Theatre, N.d. [1961]

39pp. mimeographed typescript bound in to a green folder, typed title label to front panel. General wear to contents consistent with professional use, folder a little worn and dog-eared, but a very well-preserved copy.

WORKING COPY OF THE ACTOR GRAHAM CROWDEN, WITH HIS ANNOTATIONS, REVISIONS AND UNDERLININGS THROUGHOUT THE SECOND PLAY.

Staged at the Royal Court theatre in Sloane Square, London, this double-bill of plays by Fernando Arrabal were presented as part of the Court's 1961 Productions Without Decor season. The initiative, a fixture at the Court between 1951 and 1975, mounted bare-stage productions on Sunday evenings, and gave a platform to new writing and new writers. The two plays presented on 26 November 1961 were Orison and Fando and Lis -- Graham Crowden was in the second. Part of the Royal Court's repertory company under George Devine, Crowden was also a leading member of the legendary Old Vic/National Theatre company of the 1960s, as well as a scene-stealing presence on screen with nearly two hundred credits to his name.

An early Royal Court rarity, with an impeccable provenance.
