8vo, pp. 64. Original cream boards, lettered in cream on blue to spine. Printed dustwrapper with wraparaound band. C.[onstantine] A.[thanasius] Trypanis [1909-1993] was a Greek literary critic and poet, and contributor to the first issue of Carcanet, a literary magazine founded in 1962, and a bilateral literary enterprise between Oxford and Cambridge Universities. Nevill Coghill (from whose library these books come) was on the Oxford editorial board of the magazine.

The Stones Of Troy was Trypanis' second book, preceded only by Pedasus: Twenty-Four Poems [1955], privately printed in an edition of just 150 copies, and not listed as a previous work in any of Trypanis' next three books (the three offered here).

All three books are ex-libris Nevill Coghill, but without any inscription or ownership signature.

WITH:

The Cocks Of Hades [London: Faber, 1958].

Pompeian Dog [London: Faber, 1964]. Author's printed compliment slip laid in.
