FIrst edition. FRAGMENT FROM WILLIAM MACREADY ALS TIPPED IN AT FRONT ENDPAPERS. A biography of the eminent English actor William Charles Macready [1793-1873], a Drury Lane fixture until his farewell performance in Macbeth in 1851. A favourite of Dickens and Tennyson (who wrote him a sonnet on his retirement from the stage).
