Tissue guards to frontispieces. Edges uncut. Spines of all three volumes faded to brown, boards of vol. I also faded. Spine labels worn, corners and spine ends a little bumped, but a well preserved set.

Stanley Houghton died of meningitis on 11 December 1913, at the age of thirty-two. This collected edition of his work, including one-act plays, dramatic criticism, essays and sketches as well as his full-length plays, is a fitting testament to the highly productive if tragically short career of the author of Hindle Wakes.
